Information about the campaign

After riding on the Canadian Team at World Equestrian Games in 2010 where we won the silver medal, I vowed only to pursue Canadian Eventing Team Competitions with a horse I knew was headed for the height of the sport.   After 11 years, I believe I have found that horse and now need your help to make sure he reaches his potential and we have our shot to represent Canada on the World Stage. 

I’ve been riding as a professional for 30 years now. I've ridden on four Canadian Teams and have medals from two of them.  As a professional, I spend my days in airports flying to and from teaching clinics to support this dream and my incredible family. My family of two girls and a wonderful wife probably would love to see more of me (or at least I hope!!), but we’re all well aware that once a horse gets to this level, it's non-stop motion!  

Gus (G Star Van De Klinkenberg) is a 12 year old gelding that has been in my barn since he was 8, but we’ve only been partnered for the last year and a half when a student of mine asked us to sell him. After a couple of months of competitions, a great friend and supporter helped us purchase him with lofty goals in mind.  So far, this has been a successful partnership where we have now qualified for the Pan American Games in 2023 and are consistently competing at the CCI4* 4 level (Championship level) in Eventing.

Gus shows tons of talent but needs some reassurance to bring out the best in him, but I truly believe our partnership is unique and aimed for greatness! Gus is a big softy who loves attention and thrives in a positive environment.  He has a super jump and great movement, making him well-suited to excel in all three phases. 

Getting Gus and I the exposure we need requires travel and travel means added financial pressure, especially as the business gets left behind, but, I know how fortunate I am to have a horse of this calibre and will do everything I can to maximize our ability to leave our mark on the Eventing scene. 

In an effort to raise the money needed to make sure he is well positioned and prepared to represent Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, I was going to have a bake sale to help fund our competitions, but as it turns out, I can’t bake…..so I’m trying this!
