Day trip to Tobago Cays

Hello there,

We are travelling from the UK at the beginning of June for a 3 night stay at St Vincent’s, followed by 9 nights in Bequia.

We’ve been doing some homework (we know we are going on the shoulder of the hurricane season and in the least busiest tourist time) as we would very much like to see the smaller islands/cays though it appears the only option to travel for a day trip to Tobago Cays is to charter a boat, at approximately (quoted by boat companies) $1,000, which is way beyond our budget/price range.

From experience, does anyone know whether it would be possible to take an organised day trip or do they just not run outside of the main tourist time?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
