EA Builds Madden and FC for Switch 2 from the Ground Up

EA has officially confirmed that Madden NFL and EA Sports FC are in development for FC 26 Coins the Nintendo Switch 2. Unlike previous “Legacy Edition” titles on the original Switch, EA emphasized these games are being “built specifically” for the new handheld hardware. This approach signals a potential shift away from the minimal updates of past years.

However, EA was careful to set expectations, noting that their aim is to offer a “consistent player experience across platforms as much as the hardware allows.” While this sounds promising, it also hints that some features from PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions may be trimmed. Whether these Switch 2 entries will be branded as FC 26 and Madden 26 remains unclear.

In its announcement, EA Sports outlined plans to launch EA Sports FC and Madden NFL on Nintendo’s next-gen handheld, the Switch 2. The games will be “designed for the platform,” suggesting they won’t be mere ports or re-skins. This represents a meaningful update over past Nintendo entries, particularly the criticized “Legacy Editions.”

Still, EA has avoided promising feature parity with the PS5 or Xbox Series consoles. Instead, it stresses that the player experience will be shaped by the Switch 2’s hardware limitations. Crossplay remains up in the air, as EA stated that more will be shared at a later date. For now, the announcement is more about EAFC 26 Coins potential than certainty.
